Updated: Mar 1, 2024

Now that baby is Home what is there to do next? There's so many things for you to do prior to your baby getting her to make sure you are set up for success. From freezing meals to having your cart ready. Being prepared for when the baby comes, gives you a peace of mind and also allows you to focus on your baby.

1. Postnatal Meals: making sure you prepare food to freeze so you will only have to have your team pop the meal in the oven and it's ready. Remember you are healing from the outside in so having meals to help is a must. Things like broths (bone broth is good), leafy greens, etc. are amazing. Pinterest has amazing ideas for meals such has chicken noodle, beef roast, pot pies, etc. Plan your meals ahead to freeze later and enjoy as you care for your baby. 2. Nursing Cart: Once baby is home, you will want to have things that are in arms length. Getting a cart from places like Target, Amazon, etc. which range from different prices. You want to make sure that you have all the necessary items on the cart as you care for your baby. Here's a list of items to have on your cart: peri bottle, comfortable underwear, snacks, water/drinks, wipes, diapers, pads, burb cloths, cooling pads, nursing bras, stool softener, nipple salve, diaper cream, Haakaa (milk collection), hand sanitizer, swaddle blankets, onesies, etc.

3. Padsicles: Padsicles are frozen sanitary napkins/pads that help relieve postpartum pain and swelling following a vaginal birth. These will give you comfort right after you give birth giving you a cooling sensation and relief. There are several ways to make padsicles from herbs or witch hazel and aloe. Make sure once you are ready to use it, leave it out for 5-10 minutes before using it. 4. Grocery Delivery: The one thing you don't want to worry about is getting your groceries so try opting to use a delivery service such as Shipt, Instacart, etc. to help. You can order the groceries and have it delivered. Nothing like taking care of your baby and someone doing the shopping for you. Make sure to add the gift cards are on registry. 5. Postpartum/Postnatal Doula: One thing about a postnatal doula is to help you meet the needs for you as you care for your baby.
